Bon Jovi

Bon Jovi is planning a date in New York's Central Park this summer. In a new interview with SportsIllustrated.com, Jon Bon Jovi -- a big sports fan and co-owner of the Arena Football League’s Philadelphia Soul -- says, "We always end every tour at Giants Stadium, but we're going to do Central Park this year. That hasn't been announced yet, [but] there you go, we're doing Central Park."

No date has been set for the show, and a Bon Jovi source tells Billboard.com that there's "nothing confirmed. A lot of approvals have to be gotten."

So far Bon Jovi's only announced North American shows for the summer are the Sarnia Bayfest in Ontario on July 6 and the Palace of Auburn Hills in suburban Detroit on July 7. The group wraps up its current North American tour Wednesday and Thursday in Atlanta, then kicks off the European leg on May 22 in Gelsinkirchen, Germany.

As previously reported, the tour is being filmed as part of a documentary by award-winning filmmaker Barbara Kopple.

Finishing the tour in Central Park will allow Jon Bon Jovi a short trip home. The frontman and his family moved to Manhattan from their native New Jersey last year, and he says the experience has been "good, really good. The learning curve is still there for all of us, but the comfort level is growing every day. The kids like their school and we like being in town and, y'know, it's pretty good."

Other major artists who have played special concerts in Central Park in recent years include Garth Brooks, who played in 1997, and Dave Matthews Band, who took over the Great Lawn in 2003.
