Toby Keith is currently in the Persian Gulf, where he's in the midst of his sixth USO tour. As in the past, Toby's gone beyond the usual safe zones and headed to perform for soldiers on the frontlines in the battle.
Thursday night's performance provided a reminder of just how close the troops are to danger at any given minute. As Toby sang his concert favorite "Weed With Willie," in Kandahar, Afghanistan, the base came under mortar fire, forcing Toby and most of the 2,500 soldiers at the show to run for shelter. The threat eventually passed, and Toby posed with servicemen and women for pictures and signed autographs.
Among the shows Toby's performed so far on his USO trip are concerts at the Bagram Air Force Base and forward-operating bases Gardez and Fenty. Toby plans on staying in the Persian Gulf a total of 14 days, delivering 18 shows along the way.
