Ewan McGregor has revealed that he had a cancerous mole removed from just below his right eye.

The "Phantom Menace" star said doctors recently removed several moles on his face after he went for a routine check-up.

"I went to see a specialist who thought they were better to be removed, and indeed he was correct," he told the BBC.

McGregor added that he was aware that he was more at risk of skin cancer because of having pale skin.

He said he was "fine" following the surgery and insisted that the operation was "not that big of a deal".
