The Hells Angels veteran who oversaw The Rolling Stones’ disastrous 1969 Altamont concert in California is suing U.S. TV channel HBO, over a motorcycle drama series he allegedly helped to develop.

Sonny Barger - who led the biker gang’s overzealous crackdown on fans at the band’s infamous gig - has filed suit against HBO and the producers of motorcycle-themed drama pilot 1%, claiming they used his ideas and then cut him out of the production.

The lawsuit filed at Los Angeles federal court claims that Barger, along with writer/producer Michael Tolkin, sent HBO a pitch for a TV series focusing on a fictional motorcycle club, which the channel then turned into 1%. But Barger insists that while Tolkin was hired to work on the series, he was subsequently left out. The 60-year-old also alleges that one of the characters in the show is too similar to his own persona. He is seeking compensatory damages from the TV company and is asking the court to declare the 1% script a joint work by Sonny Barger Productions. Barger is best known for his role overseeing the Hells Angels security at The Rolling Stone’s infamous Altamont Speedway Free Festival concert where a fan was fatally stabbed.
