The 43rd annual Academy of Country Music Awards are exactly one month away, but Rascal Flatts already knows it'll go home a winner that night. The ACM has tabbed the trio - Gary LeVox, Jay DeMarcus and Joe Don Rooney - as the recipient of the ACM/Home Depot Humanitarian Award.
"We have been blessed with some incredible successes in our career the past couple of years," Joe Don observed. "The most rewarding thing for us is the opportunity to give back to our communities."
The Humanitarian Award affords them yet another opportunity to do that. A playground will be built in the city of the Flatts' choice by the non-profit organization KaBOOM!, in conjunction with The Home Depot.
Rascal Flatts contributes regularly to the Make-A-Wish Foundation and serves on the celebrity board of the American Red Cross. The band has also raised $2.2 million from its Nashville concerts for the Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt.
Previous ACM Humanitarian winners include Reba McEntire, Brooks & Dunn, Neal McCoy, Vince Gill, Lonestar and Martina McBride.
