LeBron James finished with 32 points on 12-17 shooting and Zydrunas Ilgauskas added 22 points and 11 rebounds as the Cleveland Cavaliers used a big fourth quarter to beat the Washington Wizards 93-86 on Saturday to take game one of their best-of-seven opening round playoff series.
It was James that broke an 84-84 tie with 1:37 left on the clock to give the Cavs an 86-84 advantage and then following a Gilbert Arenas miss LeBron hit another bucket to extend the lead to 88-84. Following an Arenas miss Daniel Gibson was fouled and after sinking one of two from the line Cleveland was up 89-84 with 33 seconds left and Washington was done.
Washington will be kicking themselves for a 17 point fourth quarter that saw them shoot 20 percent from the floor while the Cavaliers managed to hit 50 percent in the final frame.
Both teams shot near 40 percent from the floor and were near even beyond the three-point line but the Cavaliers had a huge advantage from the charity stripe as they attempted 37 foul-shots compared to just 17 for the Wizards.
