Velvet Revolver star Slash sacked the band’s former frontman Scott Weiland because he became too much like his former bandmate, Guns N’ Roses rocker Axl Rose.

Slash sensationally quit Guns N’ Roses in 1996 after a series of rows with Rose, who has a reputation for being extremely volatile and difficult to work with.

And the legendary axeman recently fired Weiland from Velvet Revolver, blaming his "increasingly erratic onstage behavior and personal problems" for the shock move.

Slash insists Weiland had begun to take on many of Rose’s traits, including being constantly late on stage - something which the Guns N’ Roses frontman is famous for.

He says, "There were a few similarities (between Weiland and Rose). What became really irritating was that I had the same problem with Scott as I had when I toured with Axl.

"I just couldn’t get the guy on stage on time. That, I can’t accept. I will not do it again.

"I will not be in a situation where a guy is making the audience wait for an hour, or more. It’s criminal. I don’t know who he thinks he is when he tried to get away with that sort of thing."
