Australian rocker Michael Johns was eliminated in a shocking vote last week on "American Idol," and the fan favorite said it still hasn't sunk in. What has sunk in, however, is the fact that famous figures like Dolly Parton and Aussie stars Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban have all called in their support of Johns.
Johns, who had never been in the bottom three during the competition, was shocked when he was voted off the night following "Idol Gives Back." The fact that he is being compared to successful Idol alum Chris Daughtry is comforting, however.
In an interview with People.com, Johns talked about being compared to Daughtry. "I've been hearing that a bunch actually this morning and what an honor. Chris is an amazing artist and a great guy above that. I've gotten to meet him a few times and everyone has nothing but good things to say about him so to be put in that category I feel very fortunate."
Parton also called saying she was shocked he was eliminated but that she couldn't wait to do a duet with Johns. The ousted Idol said he talked to her on the phone and Parton said she was a big fan. "That's just awesome," he added.
The seven remaining contestants will sing on "American Idol" on Tuesday 8/7c on FOX.
