Singing remains Josh Turner's primary ambition, but he made a little detour this week in shooting a role for an upcoming movie about Billy Graham.

Billy: The Early Years is being shot in Tennessee through May 10, and Josh took a role as gospel singer George Beverly Shea, which required him to be available for one whole day of shooting — not that much different than working on most videos.

George Beverly Shea won a Grammy Award for his vocal work and received several more nominations over the years. He also appeared at many of Billy Graham's mega-revivals.

"He was a force to be reckoned with in gospel music, and still is," Josh told The Tennessean. "When they said they wanted me to do this part, and I found out it was only one or two lines, I said, 'Hey, I'll do it.'"

And even though acting is not his main pursuit, Josh was not intimidated by tackling something new.

"I know if I screw up," he explained, "we can do it again."
