Trace Adkins is making quite an impression on New York and Los Angeles these days. And he hopes that will lead to a nice secondary career as an actor.

He just finished working on a Kelsey Grammer picture, An American Carol, which should be out in time for Christmas. And he shot a guest role for the CBS soap opera The Young And The Restless. "I'd like to do some more of the acting stuff," Trace told the Associated Press. "I'm at a point in my life and my career — I'm at such a beautiful place — if something doesn't sound like fun to me, I probably won't do it. It's a luxury to pick and choose the projects you want to be part of." Trace likely has more options in the acting world because of his work in the NBC series The Celebrity Apprentice. Trace went all the way to the finals before British TV personality Piers Morgan won out on the Donald Trump-hosted contest. "I had the popular vote, and Piers had the money," Trace observed. "It was Trump's decision, and he placed more importance on the money. I wasn't disappointed at all. I'm getting recognized a lot more these days. I've had a few people that have told me they've started listening to country music because of my appearance on that show." Viewers of The Young And The Restless will also have the opportunity to hear some country music. Trace performed "You're Gonna Miss This" on the episode he taped this week; it's slated to air May 2.
