"American Idol" singer Kristy Lee Cook has turned out to be the little cowgirl that could. Although she has been in the bottom two or three almost every week, on Tuesday night she earned praises from the judges for her strong country voice. Kristy Lee sang the Martina McBride song "Anyway," and Paula Abdul told her it was her best performance so far and even Simon Cowell said, "It was very, very good, indeed... You look like a star." Jason Castro also pleased the judges with his ukulele and his rendition of Israel Kamakawiwo'ole's version of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow." David Archuleta continued to shine as the Idol Golden Boy when he sang "Angels" by Robbie Williams. Randy Jackson declared it the "hottest moment of the whole season." Singers Michael Johns, Syesha Mercado, David Cook and Brooke White all received mixed reviews from the judges. It was singer Carly Smithson, the one time "American Idol" It girl, who didn't please the judges. She sang the Queen version of "The Show Must Go On" and Cowell said it made her sound "angry." He also warned the Irish singer that she "might be in a bit of trouble." "Idol Gives Back" will replace the elimination round Wednesday night, although one contestant will leave during a special airing of "American Idol" on Thursday night on FOX.
