You've seen plenty of great videos on GAC with moving storylines or fun cameo appearances, but all the great visuals in the world can't help if the song itself is a dud.
Take it from a couple of experts, Brad Paisley and Gretchen Wilson, who put their thoughts on video dos and don'ts in the pages of USA Weekend.
"The music has to be there," Brad said. Country music's "lyrics are integral to our style, and the videos depend upon those words as definitive direction for the script itself. The best videos follow the song in an illustrative way, yet do an artistic job of painting in new details."
Shooting the video is an expensive proposition, and since promoting a song is one of the major reasons for creating a clip, it's important that the song be worthy of the investment.
"Many of these video productions cost $150,000 to make these days and take two days to film," Gretchen noted. "But all of the editing tricks and cameos and special effects can't make a great video if the song isn't great, too."
Brad's latest video, "Letter To Me," currently stands at No. 11 on GAC's Top 20 Country Countdown.
