The Martin Scorsese-directed Rolling Stones documentary "Shine a Light" tallied $1.5 million during its first weekend of release, a very respectable number for a non-"Hannah Montana" related concert film.

Playing in 276 theaters, "Shine" scored an outstanding per-screen average of $5,474. The only film in wide release this past weekend to score a larger per-screen average was "21," which finished No. 1 for the second week in a row with $15.1 million in 2,653 theaters; that's a $5,691 per screen average.

By comparison, when "U23D" jumped to a wide release in February, its tally for the first weekend was $1.02 million at 686 theaters. "U23D" went on to earn $7.2 million at the domestic box office, making it the fifth biggest earning concert film of all time.
