Hillary Clinton

Democratic presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton saw her campaign take yet another hit on Sunday as Mark Penn, a chief strategist for the Clinton campaign, stepped down from his role following a controversial meeting he held with representatives of the Columbian government.

Penn reportedly met the representatives to help promote a trade agreement, the only problem being that Clinton has openly opposed the agreement.

Penn not only served as chief strategist for the Clinton campaign but also serves as chief executive of public relations firm Burson-Marsteller. It was through that capacity that Penn met with Columbian officials to discuss strategy in pushing the Columbian free trade agreement through Congress. After Clinton confronted Penn on the matter the controversial strategist apologized and called the meeting “an error in judgment.”

Columbia had paid Burson-Marsteller $300,000 to educate members of Congress about the trade deal and after hearing that Penn had apologized to Clinton for the meeting they immediately fire Burson-Marsteller saying his apology to Clinton showed disrespect to their country.
