Did they or didn't they get married? That is the question! And according to People magazine, it's a done deal. Jay-Z and Beyonce are married. At least, that's what we all seem to believe.
See Also:It all started on April 1, otherwise known as April Fool's Day. Actually, it started 6 years ago, when the relationship between Jay-Z and Beyonce became public knowledge, through photos taken of the couple somewhere on the beach in another country. Still, for years, neither celebrity would publicly address it, especially Jay-Z, who has only made a nameless reference to their couple-dom in a song. It's what made the April 1 filing of a marriage license in Scarsdale, N.Y. between the two so unconvincing. But as reports started to surface that the two superstars were to wed on Friday, April 4 (a date with some interesting significance for them), media outlets and paparazzi photographers started to salivate. The theory that the date, 4/4/08, with its first two numerals representing the day each of them were born on, and the last number being the sum of the two (how cute...gag!)--not to mention, that the roman numeral 4 had been tattooed on both of their ring fingers, made the "could-be a wedding" all too believable. On Friday at 4 p.m. (ET), Jay-Z and Beyonce are believed to have exchanged vows at the Bloomberg building in midtown N.Y.C., while a white tent and flowers awaited for him and his bride at his Tribeca apartment. Because no one knew of the aforementioned location, people swarmed outside 195 Hudson street until their camera batteries went dead (TMZ.com had a live stream from outside the building waiting for someone to show up). Slowly, but surely, celebrity guests started to arrive downtown, in tinted-out Black SUVs. Of those spotted included Destiny Child's Michelle Williams and Kelly Rowland, Bey's dad Matthew Knowles and lil' sister Solange, and close friend of Jay-Z, Steve Stoute. It was also reported that close friends of the couple, Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin were in attendance. Well, if it sounds like a wedding, smells like a wedding and tastes like a wedding, then it is probably a wedding, right? Hmmmmm. Though BET.com reported earlier that the news was indeed confirmed by People magazine, some are still skeptical since the marriage license was filed on April 1 (probably one way that Jay-Z kept himself amused) and that Ashton Kuchter's new Punk'd-style show (punking the paparazzi) was currently taping for a new season (E! has yet to report the news and that is the network where the show is supposed to air). As of press time, neither camp has confirmed that a wedding took place. So what is to be said about Mr. and the-almost-maybe-she-is-and-if-not-probably-will-be-someday Mrs. Carter? Nothing. At least that's what Jay said. The MC took a flight out of Teterboro airport in New Jersey on Saturday afternoon and was back on stage by the evening for his "Heart of the City" tour in North Carolina (no honeymoon?!). According to the New York Post however, Mary J. Blige, who is on tour with Jay-Z, wasn't as quiet. She spilled the beans, the Post reports, "Congratulations to my man, Jay-Z and my girl, B," said the singer on stage (see photos from the tour right here!) Jay's always done a great job at keeping his personal life, well, personal, and it's probably likely that he will do the same in this case. Wedding or not. No wedding photos of Beyonce in a wedding gown (supposedly flown in from Paris) or Jay-Z in a tux have yet to surface.
