American Idol

American Idol contestant David Cook was hospitalized Tuesday night after experiencing heart palpitations, according to a TMZ report.

Cook's blood pressure was "far too high" and urged him to seek treatment, but he did not want to leave until the show concluded, the Web site said.

Doctors gave Cook medicine to lower his blood pressure and released him after a few hours. He was taken to the American Idol residences and was "doing fine," People magazine reported.

In an earlier show, Cook collapsed before performing and said he could not continue, but later recanted and was able to go on with the performance.

Cook has been going through a lot of personal problems since his brother was diagnosed with cancer, Fox News reported.
