Sean Levert's family has asked the FBI to investigate his jailhouse death after reports surfaced that the jail staff may have played a role in his death. The 39-year old singer died on Sunday night at 11:57 p.m. after being rushed to Lutheran Hospital from the Cuyahoga County Jail where he was being held. An autopsy was conducted on Monday, but was inconclusive. Toxicology reports could take up anywhere from four to six weeks before a cause of death is determined.
Earlier today, TMZ.com reported that the jail staff had put Sean Levert in a restraining chair at the psychiatric ward, where Levert was being kept. According to warden Kevin McDonough, Levert had been moved to the psychiatric ward on the 5th day of his sentence, which he began serving last week. The warden says that Levert had been mumbling uncontrollably, and once he was moved to the psych ward, he became violent and began banging on his cell door. that's when things took a turn for the worse, because the jail staff decided to put Levert in a restraining chair, and soon after, his breathing became shallow.
