Velvet Revolver have split with singer Scott Weiland, Billboard.com reports.

In a statement, guitarist Slash said: "This band is all about its fans and its music and Scott Weiland isn't 100% committed to either."

He continued: "Among other things, his increasingly erratic onstage behaviour and personal problems have forced us to move on."

Relations between the parties had become strained in recent weeks.

Stone Temple Pilots, the band with which Weiland found fame, are scheduled to announce a full reunion tour next week.
