"Back When I Knew It All" is quickly becoming one of the biggest hits in Montgomery Gentry's career, and the duo is geared up to release its next album - named for that single - June 10.
The album is a bit of a departure. Instead of recording in Nashville, they headed down Interstate 40 to record in Memphis' Ardent Studio, which has launched hits in the past by ZZ Top, Sam & Dave, 3 Doors Down and Led Zeppelin.
"It just really had that great groove," Eddie Montgomery says of the results. "When you go in and you see where Zeppelin recorded there, Bob Dylan and B.B. King — man, the vibe. I don't know if you believe in ghosts or not, but I felt that the ghosts were in the room when you were singing and playing. So it was really, really cool."
Eddie gets credit as a writer on the two of the album's tracks, "God Knows Who I Am" and "One In Every Crowd," and the CD also features a couple of guest vocalists: pop singer John Ondrasik, of Five For Fighting, joins them on "Roll With Me"; and Toby Keith contributes to "I Pick My Parties."
