Sean Levert, the younger brother of the late Gerald Levert and the son of O'Jays' lead singer Eddie Levert, has died. Sean, who was 39 years old, collapsed while jailed at the Cuyahoga County Jail in Cleveland, Ohio. The warden told TMZ.com that Levert was immediately rushed to Lutheran hospital, where he died at 11:57 p.m., less than an hour after he had arrived.

WEWS is also reporting that he was being kept on the mental health floor of the jail. Sean was a member of the popular '80's R&B group Levert, along with his brother Gerald and cousin Marc Gordon. In 1988, the trio's hit song "Casanova" (see the video here) was nominated for a Grammy, but the group disbanded when lead singer Gerald Levert decided to pursue a solo career. Just a few months ago, Sean had announced that Levert would resurface with a new member, who would replace Gerald. This is devastating news for the Levert family, who just recently lost Gerald Levert back in November of 2006. Last August, the family was in dispute over Gerald's estate. Sean was jailed last week for failing to pay over $80,000 in child support. The cause of death has yet to be determined, and coroner Frank Miller said that an autopsy would be conducted today. However, a spokesperson for the coroner's office said that "no foul play or trauma" was suspected in his death.
