Hideki Matsui

New York Yankees right fielder Hideki Matsui got married Wednesday, winning a bet with teammates Derek Jeter and Bobby Abreu.

Matsui made the bet at the beginning of spring training about who would wed first, then flew to New York on his off day Wednesday and got married in a private wedding.

Matsui said Jeter, who claimed not to have a girlfriend, had one year to get married to win the bet. Yankees outfielder Bobby Abreu, who has a girlfriend, had six months to win the bet.

Matsui said he knew six months ago that he was going to get married and used the opportunity to pull a fast one on his teammates.

Jeter and Abreu both said Thursday that they would pay off the bet immediately and that the sudden marriage was a complete surprise.

When asked which lucky woman became his wife, Matsui drew a sketch of her. Fans are scouring the Internet in order to find photos of Matsui's wife.
