Rolling Stones

The Rolling Stones have been granted the right to play in an English seaside town - 44 years after they were banned from ever performing there again.

The town of Blackpool, England, banned the legendary rockers in 1964 after one of their concerts ended in a riot.

Over 50 people were taken to hospital after rowdy fans tore up seats, smashed chandeliers and threw bottles - and local officials vowed the band would never again be allowed to play in the area.

But now the leader of Blackpool council has decided to scrap the order, giving the Gimme Shelter hitmakers leave to return.

Council leader Peter Callow says, "The ban has now been lifted and the group are welcome to play here again."
