Singer Nate Dogg was sentenced to three years of informal probation Tuesday (March 25) after pleading guilty to trespass and battery charges stemming from an incident in 2006.

The 38-year-old singer (real name: Nathaniel Hale) was officially charged with misdemeanor aggravated trespass, battery, telephone harassment, dissuading a witness from reporting a crime and violating a restraining order when he broke into the Newport Beach home of his ex-girlfriend, her new boyfriend and the boyfriend's mother back in 2006. According to reports, Nate Dogg forced his way into the home, punched her ex's new boyfriend in the face and then fled the scene. In addition to probation, Nate is also required to complete a batterers' treatment program and refrain from owning a weapon for 10 years, according to TMZ. For the last two months, however, his ex hasn't had to worry about Nate, because he has been recovering from a stroke he suffered during the Christmas holidays in 2007, which reportedly left him paralyzed on the left side of his body. "Time will tell everything, obviously," Nate's rep, Rod McGrew, told MTV in January. "The doctor can only guess what the outcome will be. But based on situations with similar people his age, and based on his health, the prognosis is good right now."
