Three years ago, Troy Gentry broke his left ankle and needed surgery to repair ligaments in his knee after he was pinned beneath a horse in a riding accident. You can bet that Montgomery Gentry is set with health insurance, but many Americans have trouble getting medical assistance when they need it most, and Troy is taking part in a program to let people know they have options.

That includes helping both the uninsured and people with insurance who are being blocked for other reasons. Troy's mother died from cancer in 2007, and her battle with her health was complicated by a battle with the insurance company. In the last dozen years, PAF has helped nearly 20 million patients gain healthcare after their provider denied coverage. "It's an honor to work with the Patient Advocate Foundation on an issue that is important to so many Americans," Troy says. "Unfortunately, I know from personal experience how the complications of securing healthcare coverage can make an already trying time that much more difficult. It's great to be working with an organization like PAF that is able to fight successfully on patients' behalf." To learn more about PAF, call 1-800-532-5274 or log on to patientadvocate.org.
