Fabolous recently revealed that his next album will be a concept album based on a film in the same fashion as Jay-Z's American Gangster.
The Brooklyn bred rapper divulged to MTV's Mixtape Monday that his album will be based on a classic film which he refused to disclose.
“What Jay-Z did [with 'American Gangster'] ... he took that Frank Lucas character and put it in the frame of his Jay character,” Fabolous explained. “That's what I wanna do. I don't wanna say I that I'm actually the character, but take some of his scenarios or some things I went through and tell it in my tone.”
Among the various producers that Fabolous wants to work with on the project include DJ Toomp, Kanye West, Just Blaze and Polow Da Don.
Fabolous plans to have his concept album out by August and will release a single in May.
Fab is also putting together a compilation for his crew, The Street Family, which has a new member in R&B crooner Deemi. Freck Billionaire, Red Café and Paul Cain are among some of the artists who will appear on the compilation.
