American Idol

Amanda Overmeyer performed first last night on American Idol. She sang ‘Back in the USSR’ and received back reviews from the judges. It was pretty much the same thing she has done since week one. Simon Cowell thought is was “messy” and almost boring.

Kristy Lee Cook sang a rock, country version of ‘Hide Your Love Away.’ Paula Abdul commented on how she looked great and Randy Jackson said it was a little boring.

David Archuleta chose ‘The Long and Winding Road.’ All the judges loved it. Brook White wasn’t as good as she has been. She sang ‘Here Comes the Sun’ in a bright yellow dress. Randy said it was awkward and Simon said it was terrible.

Carly Smithson sang ‘Blackbird.’ Randy and Paula loved it but Simon thought it was “indulgent.” Michael Johns disappointed judges with his version of ‘A Day in the Life.’ Simon thought it wasn’t as good as his past performances.

Chickezie sang ‘I’ve Just Seen a Face’ and included a harmonica. All the judges thought it was ok and not as good as last week. David Cook was praised for his version of ‘Day Tripper.’ Syesha Mercado also did well. She sang ‘Yesterday’ and Simon thought it was her best performance so far.

Jason Castro sang ‘Michelle’ and it was a little awkward. Paula thought he looked uncomfortable and Simon said his facial expressions sold it. Ramiele Malubay is probably going home. She sang ‘I Should Have Known Better’ and it was ok.
