James Blunt

Singer James Blunt misses his time serving in the British army - insisting his role as a soldier was much easier than that of a pop star.

Prior to embarking on a career in music, the You’re Beautiful hitmaker was an officer in the Life Guards unit of the British Army, and served as a member of the NATO peacekeeping force in Kosovo.

And Blunt - who has been the subject of ridicule over his "posh" persona - is convinced he was happier when he was serving his country as his army peers never made fun of his background.

He says, "I was really comfortable in the Army, really at home there. I miss how non-judgmental soldiers are. At school, when I was very young, I remember someone calling me posh, and I hadn’t been called posh until I got into this industry.

"In the army we were reliant on each other and no one cared about my background. Now I’m in the most judgmental industry in the world."
