TV talk show queen Oprah Winfrey has given her backing to upcoming British singer Leona Lewis, insisting the pop star will succeed in her bid to conquer America.
The former winner of British reality TV show The X Factor was introduced on Winfrey’s program by her mentor, American Idol judge Simon Cowell, and went on to receive a standing ovation from the studio audience after a rendition of her hit single Bleeding Love.
And Winfrey admitted she was astounded by Lewis’ talent, saying, "You’re the real deal girl! Talk about a star is born!" Bleeding Love is currently number one in 25 countries and Cowell is hoping his protege will be able to replicate her success in the American charts after the release of her debut album Spirit this week.
