Ashley Dupre, a 22-year-old New Jersey native that left home at the age of 17 to pursue a career as a singer/songwriter, is believed to be the true identity of “Kristen,” the high-priced call girl at the center of New York Governor Eliot Spitzer’s downfall.

Dupre has apparently been able to do what none of Spitzer’s biggest enemies were capable of doing, knocking him off his perch atop the Governorship of New York.

It is now believed that Dupre was the call-girl that met with Spitzer following the governor’s arrangement with the Emperors Club, the prostitution ring that set up the encounters.

Unfortunately for Spitzer that phone conversation was part of a government wiretap that recorded the incriminating evidence. Earlier this week information about Spitzer’s trysts hit the public and by Wednesday Spitzer announced that he would be resigning as governor.

Dupree was in court on Monday, acting as a witness in a trail against four people who had been charged with running the prostitution ring.
