Avril Lavigne

TORONTO -- Avril Lavigne's catty hit single, "Girlfriend," has been turned into a 92-page comic book.

Titled "Avril Lavigne's Girlfriend: Sleight of Hand and Heart," the comic tells the story of the sweet boy Dylan, his superficial girlfriend Layla and the misfit Marta who knows there's a secret darkside to Layla.

Lavigne's MySpace page says the tale is inspired by last summer's hit single, "Girlfriend," in which the boppy refrain declares, "Hey, hey, you, you, I don't like your girlfriend/ No way, no way, I think you need a new one."

The comic is available at Lavigne's concerts and online at avrilmerch.com.

Lavigne is in the midst of a world tour that started in Vancouver last week.

She heads to Edmonton on Wednesday and Calgary on Thursday.
