Dothan, Alabama concertgoers who didn't get to see Soulja Boy this weekend after the popular rapper failed to take the stage are being refunded.
According to The Dothan Eagle, Soulja Boy was expected to be at the Dothan Civic Center by 7pm on Saturday (March 7) and by 10pm had not arrived at the venue.
Cynthia Skipper, the city auditorium revenue manager, revealed that refunds were not given to concertgoers on Saturday because the department did not have any cash on them. Refunds began yesterday (March 10).
“We don’t know what happened but it was really bad somebody would do this to the community, promoter and to themselves,” Skipper said
Soulja Boy's no-show now has local promoters believing that it will hurt future events that they may try to hold.
“It puts a bad taste in people’s mouth when an artist doesn’t show up, and then we try to sell tickets for something and folks don’t support it,” said local promoter Darryl “E” Elliot. “It was sad to see those children... heartbroken. Many folks probably just threw their ticket stub away, so they won’t be getting that money back.”
