Whoopi Goldberg has voiced her support and concern for actor Patrick Swayze. The actor’s rep confirmed that he has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and is undergoing treatment. His doctors say he is responding well to treatment and they are optimistic.
Goldberg recalled her experience with Swayze in their 1990 hit ‘Ghost’ on Thursday’s episode of ‘The View.’
Goldberg said Swayze was the only reason she won an Oscar for her role in the film. “When I won my Academy Award, the only person I really thanked was Patrick,” she said. She added that the 55-year-old was the one who convinced director Jerry Zucker to cast her. Goldberg said Swayze told Zucker, “I’m not making this movie unless you put Whoopi Goldberg in there.”
“We want you to feel better – we’ll talk soon, I hope,” she added.
