Halftime Radio

Next Wednesday (March 5), one of New York City’s most respected hip-hop radio programs, The Halftime Show, will celebrate its ten year anniversary. Each year, DJs Eclipse and Skizz invite high-profile producers to create live beats over which guest rappers rhyme. In commemoration of an entire decade on the air at New York University’s WNYU (89.1 FM), producers DJ Premier, Pete Rock and Alchemist will be in the studio creating beats, while artists like A.G., Boot Camp, Big Noyd, Masta Ace, Reef The Lost Cauze and over 25 other guests will be rapping live on air.

The Halftime Show has built a following since it started in March of 1998 by playing a mix of independent, major label and classic hip-hop. Their interviews and freestyle sessions have included many of today’s superstars when they were starting out, including Eminem, Kanye West and 50 Cent.

The 10th anniversary show airs on March 5 from 10:30 p.m. until 1 a.m. It can be heard in New York on 89.1 FM or online at either www.wnyu.org or through iTunes’ streaming radio service.
