Viewership for the Oscars was low this year, and as it turns out, at least 100 or so potential viewers were attending another function at the White House. The list included Vince Gill and wife Amy Grant, who performed for the annual White House State Dinner for all 50 U.S. governors on Sunday.
Nashville session musician John Hobbs played piano for the duo, The Tennessean reports, and Amy chipped in a version of her pop hit "Baby, Baby." As usual, Vince had the crowd laughing. This time he did it by singling out California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. Vince recalled a time in the 1970s when he was a struggling musician living in Los Angeles and Arnold persuaded Vince to loan him a guitar for a photo shoot. Arnold broke the guitar in the process. The Terminator turned red when Vince brought it up, but Vince shrugged it off.
"It was an honor for you to break my guitar," said Vince.
