Ja Rule

After Ja Rule spent thousands of dollars posting bail for two friends, a judge ordered that the rapper keep his money to himself.

The two incarcerated men are co-defendants of Ja Rule in a gun possession case, according to New York Newsday. State Supreme Court Judge Micki Scherer said today that she wants each of the men to keep their cash separate.

Ja Rule (born Jeffrey Atkins) "put himself in the position of perhaps controlling the outcome of the case," Scherer said. "I think the potential for it is a big problem."

Ja's lawyer Stacey Richman said the defense will come up with separate bail packages for co-defendants Dennis Cherry and Mohamed Gamal.

The case stems from an incident on July 22 of '07 in which Ja, Cherry and Gamal were pulled over on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, New York, for speeding. A .40 caliber pistol was found inside the vehicle and all three men were arrested.

Coincidentally, Lil' Wayne was arrested in the vicinity that same night on a gun possession charge.

Richman represents both Ja and Wayne and both rappers maintain their innocence.

The judge will rule next month on whether Ja Rule and his two co-defendants will have to give up DNA samples to test against the DNA found on the gun.
