Sir Elton John is the latest superstar to offer support and help to troubled singer Britney Spears, insisting the pop princess "doesn’t deserve" her meltdown.

Speaking at his star-studded post-Oscars party in Hollywood on Sunday, the former drug addict offered Spears his thoughts and prayers.

He said, "She doesn’t deserve this. The only person that can help Britney is herself… As much as she’s going through, it’s horrible and I hope she comes through it. If I could do anything, I would."

John is among a number of celebrities including Queen Latifah and Sylvester Stallone’s ex-wife Brigitte Nielsen, who have reached out to Spears and offered her sanctuary away from the prying eyes of the press.
