Pregnant actress Cate Blanchett let slip the sex of her unborn child while she was at the Oscars on Sunday night.

The Lord Of The Rings star referred to her baby-bump as male when she was asked how she was coping with pregnancy.

Blanchett - who failed to take home the Best Actress award for Elizabeth: The Golden Age or Best Supporting Actress gong for her role in I’m Not There - told People.com her baby seemed to be very relaxed because "he" was asleep.

She says, "He’s actually asleep - believe it or not, which bodes well."
