Angry vandals have attacked a tribute to Ringo Starr in his hometown after the Beatles legend made disparaging remarks about the city of Liverpool, England, in a TV interview. The drummer appeared on a British chat show last month (jan08) and told host Jonathan Ross there was "nothing" he missed about the area since leaving to pursue his music career. And his comments have angered people in the city, who are fiercely proud of the area’s link to the Beatles, with vandals defacing a tribute to Starr at his former school. A sign at a playground, named Starr Fields in his honor, was daubed with spray paint - with the 67-year-old’s face blanked out and the word "traitor" scrawled next to it.

Just cos ya think it doesn't mean ya have ta say it! That's why Paul was always the PR man in the group. I can see why.

Date: Mon, Feb 25, 2008 01:06:15 PST Y'know, I don't blame Ringo for saying that. The simple reason why he wouldn't miss Liverpool is because the Liverpool he knew and grew up in is practically gone now. The man is 67 years old, the places he remembers and grew up with are probably gone just as the Original Cavern Club is. In a way it was kinda wrong he said that but I can't blame him.
