He’s written and produced hits for some of the world’s biggest recording artists including 50 Cent, Gwen Stephani, Justin Timberlake and Christina Aguilera to name a only a few, but on Feb 13th 2008 the United States California Central District Court entered a judgment against superstar producer Scott Storch and his production company Tuff Jew Productions, LLC in the amount of $509,717.50 in favor of plaintiff David M Menefield, former manager of Nocturnal and owner of LA Confidential. According to court filings Menefield said he brought the suit because Storch and his Storch’s production company, Tuff Jew’s failure to perform under the terms of a promissory note between the parties whereby Menefield lent Storch $100,000 to prevent the foreclosure of his home in 2003. According to court documents, the promissory note required Scott Storch and Tuff Jew to repay the $100,000 principal amount, cover Menefield’s attorneys fees and deliver five original tracks to Menefield, of which 4 were undelivered by Storch. The judgment entered by the Court ordered Scott Storch and Tuff Jew Productions to jointly and severally pay Menefield the sum of $509,717.50 and valued Scott Storch’s production services at $100,000 per track. According to Menefield, “Scott Storch never had the courtesy even to call me and speak to me directly about this matter after I asked to be repaid, and I had to hire my tough Jewish lawyer Bret Lewis to beat the $509,717.50 from Scott Storch and Tuff Jew Productions in court.”
