In this week's Pulse Report the streets are buzzing about KRS-One collaborating with a cast of criminals on "Stop The Violence," Jim Jones' new fashion statement, Young Dro finding love with an "American Idol" and is Jadakiss making his last stand on the Roc? [Editor Note: The views of this column do not necessarily reflect those of SOHH.com] 1. A History Of Violence. Legendary rapper KRS-One is hard at work putting together the 2008 edition of the "Stop The Violence" movement. The Bronx MC was one of the original architects of the 1988 movement designed to cease the violence in black communities. At a recent recording in Los Angeles a who's who list of rappers came through to pause for the cause and lend a hand. Present at the historic gathering was Nelly, The Game, Ludacris, Busta Rhymes, Fat Joe, Cassidy, Chamillionaire, Chingy and Doug E. Fresh just to name a few. [Watch Here] This is a nice cause and all, but I must take offense with the roster of rappers we have here. Seriously, with exception of a few, the criminal backgrounds and lyrical content of some of these dudes is littered with violence. Not to be all Bill O'Reilly, but this seems a bit counter-productive to me. Game sentenced to 60 days for felony firearms charge. Busta Rhymes on probation for assault. Cassidy convicted of involuntary manslaughter. Then there's Busta advocating violence during the session. Really, how am I supposed to explain to this to the kids? Come on guys let's get it together here. 2. Roc Bottom. In a recent interview with the The Come Up DVD, D-Block rapper Jadakiss announced that he is officially a member of Roc-A-Fella/Def Jam Records. The Yonkers rapper said he is already working on his new album that is tentatively titled Kiss My Ass. However, when asked to discussion the turmoil between Jay-Z and Roc artist Beanie Segel and Freeway, Jada took offense to the question. "Don't ask me none of that sh*t," Jada barked. "I don't know about n*ggas I don't know how they feel. It's a f*cked up game everybody not going to feel happy. I'm might be feeling the way them n*ggas feel in a minute" [Watch Here] SMH. First of all, whoever is running things over at Roc-A-Fella needs to get Jada a Roc chain, ASAP. It's 2008 and this guy is boosting about Jesus pieces. Not a good look, son. Secondly, I could see why this would be a sensitive topic for Jada. If I was repeatedly raped by the system, I'd be a little irritable too. Especially when you know its about to happen again, but you're in denial. Come on now. This dude really expects to sell records on the Roc? Sh*t, I'll buy two copies if it sees the light of day. That's what's wrong with New York rap. We've had the same core of rappers since 1997. Who really wants to hear another Jadakiss record? 3. Harlem Chic. Dipset capo Jim Jones recently released his much talked about mixtape album Harlem's American Gangster. The album features appearances from Dame Dash, Juelz Santana and the Byrdgang crew. The video for the first single "Love Me No More" also made its debut. [Watch Here] In the video Jones is making quite the fashion statement with what can only be described as a "scarfy"-a designer scarf wrapped on your head to look like a hoodie. To be all the way real, it's a real homo thug thing to do. Is he trying to start a trend with that? Juelz is already rocking it as well. How these dudes get a pass for their funny style fashion sense? It's bad enough they're sill considered tough when in reality Dipset is the most victimized crew in hip-hop history. Jim chased and beaten. Cam shot. Freaky Zeeky shot and stabbed. The list goes on. Scarfy look, anyone? 4. Who Let The Dog Out? Bow-wow-wow-yeppie-yo-yeppie-ye, Duane "Dog" Chapman has a good reason to celebrate. America's favorite racist bounty hunter is coming back to television. A&E is confirming reports that they are gearing up for a new season of "Dog The Bounty Hunter." The cable network suspended the show indefinitely after a recording surfaced featuring Chapman making racially charged statements directed at his son's Afro-American girlfriend. The Don Imus-like moment forced Chapman to beg for mercy from various black organizations-reaching out to promote racial equality. Apparently A&E bought his sympathy plea. "Over the last few months, Duane "Dog" Chapman has taken and continues to take the appropriate steps in reaching out to several African American organizations in an effort to make amends for his private comments to his son which were released publicly," said a statement from the network. Since the premise of 'Dog The Bounty Hunter' is about second chances - we have decided to give him one." Wonder if Dog is going to cop Nas' next album? 5. Young Love. Add ATL's Young Dro to the list of rappers who's dating an R&B chick. Dro recently admitted to SOHH that, yes indeed, "American Idol" Fantasia was his new sweetheart. [Watch Below] I know what ya'll thinking, so I'll let you tell it. While we're on the topic of "Young-uns" The Parker Report recently did a segment on the usage of "Lils" and "Youngs" in hip-hop. David Banner, Killer Mike, Diamond & Princess were on the panel discussing when a rapper has to stop calling himself "Lil" or "Young." [Watch Here] Funny stuff. I'm with Killer Mike on this. No more "Lil" and "Young" when you're a grown ass man. Young Jeezy ain't got no business calling his old ass young nothing. And for the sake of our kids stop intentionally misspelling young (yung). It's really stupid.
