No More Partying For Willie Nelson

Willie Nelson

Longtime "Monday Night Football" fans will remember that one of the original traditions of the game came when commentator Don Meredith started serenading the losers with an old Willie Nelson song, "The Party's Over."

As it turns out, Willie doesn't party that much anymore. It took a toll on the body, and it took a toll on the relationships in his entourage.

"In the early days, we'd be out on the road and go out and play our concert and then go back to the hotel and party 'til daylight," he told Spinner.com. "Then when it came time to leave, you couldn't find anybody. So I decided somewhere along the way that it's better to leave town right after the show. And since we've started doing that, I've noticed that the marriages are actually staying together."

Willie recently made headlines when he went on a syndicated radio show and suggested that the collapse of the World Trade Center may have been aided by explosives planted before the planes hit them. Willie was a vocal supporter of Dennis Kucinich before the Ohio politician dropped out of the race for president. In the meantime, Willie suggests that U.S. war policies and economics should work hand-in-hand in deciding who follows George W. Bush into the Oval Office.

"We have all kinds of problems, but the number-one priority is to stop this war," Willie said. "Once that happens, all the trillions of dollars that we're spending over there can be spent here on our people, our poor people, for health insurance and all the things that evidently we don't have the money to work with because it's all over there fighting wars. And if it's not that war, it's another war. It's just this series of one war after another."
