Timbaland made headlines over the weekend on two fronts – his collaboration with Verizon wireless to release one new single each month, and for cursing out organizers of People magazine's pre-Grammy concert for leaving some of his friends at the door.
See Also:According to reports, Timbaland took the stage with Missy Elliott at People's star-studded affair at the Avalon Club in Hollywood and launched into a "foul-mouthed tirade" against the magazine. "Next time I have one of my homeboys in line, let that (expletive) in!" Timbaland shouted as the event winded down after 2 a.m. Saturday, adding that he was a "peoples person." "I don't like to see my people turned around for some (expletive) magazine ... (expletive) y'all!" Right before he delivered his rant, he threatened to outdo Kanye West, known for his outbursts. An unnamed source close to Timbaland told the Associated Press that the artist had been frustrated at what was described as security and production mishaps, and said he didn't mean to take it out on the magazine. A source in People's camp said they didn’t understand why Timbaland was so upset, and that they had considered the event a success. The concert, which also included performances from Chris Cornell, Paramore and One Republic, was co-sponsored by Verizon Wireless to celebrate Timbaland's deal to create the world's first "mobile album," which will be exclusively available to subscribers of V Cast, Verizon's mobile entertainment service. The partnership calls for Timbaland to produce one song per month throughout 2008. Each month, he will work with a different artist on a track while touring the country on the Verizon Mobile Recording Studio Bus, which will also capture making-of footage for V Cast subscribers on a dedicated Timbaland channel. He will perform in some tour cities to be announced, and Verizon will select subscribers to visit the tour bus in other cities to watch him work his magic. The first Verizon song features Mosley Music artist Keri Hilson.
