Rapper Kanye West announced on his blog at KanyeUniversecity.com that he’s embarking on a "Glow in the Dark Tour" that will be “the end of the world as you know it!” The blog post is a flyer with no tour dates, but it does show that Rihanna, Lupe Fiasco, and N.E.R.D. will be joining him. Perhaps with West, Fiasco and Pharell Williams (of N.E.R.D.) on the road together, they’ll have the time to work on their supergroup Child Rebel Soldiers. Last year, fans got a sample with the song “US Placers,” but no details were revealed about any further work. “Everyone’s focused on something else at the moment,” Fiasco said in an interview with PitchforkMedia.com. “[We’re trying to find] two or three weeks to sit down and hammer it out.” In the meantime, on the Billionaire Boys Club/Ice Cream blog, “Everybody Nose,” a new N.E.R.D. song produced by Timbaland was posted. No news yet, though, if it will appear on their third album, N.3.R.D., due this spring. In the latest installment of “Inside the Rappers Studio” with Miss Info, New York-bred Joell Ortiz confirms that he was “released” from Aftermath Entertainment and that he parodied his own situation in his “Ups and Downs” video. “I just wanted to be clever,” he said. “I’m a fun guy. I just want people to know that it wasn’t nothing bad; this [release] was a good thing that happened because as of right now I’m still doing business with Dr. Dre.” Reportedly, he’s working on Dre’s long-anticipated Detox project. “I wanted it [the video] to create questions… So I could get out here and tell people what it is.” Ortiz, now a “free agent,” is finalizing a new mixtape. Rappers Pitbull and Baby Bash, the two most searched Latin artists on MySpace are going on tour together. “It’s been long overdue for me and Pit to hit the road together; finally our fans can see us both together for one ticket. You can’t beat that with a Whoopin’ stick,” Baby Bash said in a statement. His lead single “Cyclone,” from his new album of the same name features last year’s most popular supporting artist, T-Pain and was produced by Lil Jon. This will be the first time Pitbull will go on a national tour since the 2005 Anger Management Tour. This tour kicks off Mar. 15 in Orlando, FL. Lil Jon has added athletes to his BME Click: pro-skateboarders Greg Lutzka and Ryan Sheckler (seen on MTV’s “Life of Ryan”) pro-snowboarders Danny Kass and Dingo, and pro-surfer Travis Mellem. The new members of the BME family were at the X-Games in Aspen, CO last weekend (Jan. 24 – 27) supporting Kass and sporting BME branded snowboarding and activewear gear. “When Lil Jon wanted to get into action sports he wanted to pull the illest crew together, and it is an honor to be picked by that man.” Sheckler said in a statement. The Click started in 2001 with BME Recordings, now home to E-40 and Lil’ Scrappy. |
