Dolly Parton

SAN FRANCISCO, CA. (Top40 Charts/ INgrooves) - Legendary singer / songwriter, Dolly Parton, and her label, Dolly Records, have signed a digital distribution deal with INgrooves. The first release from Dolly Records will be "Backwoods Barbie", DOLLY'S first mainstream country album in over 17 years. Artist2Market, Handleman's independent distribution division, is handling the physical distribution of the album.

Dolly Parton's signing with INgrooves is representative of a larger shift underway in the music industry; artists are increasingly looking to create innovative structures that maximize their freedom, connection with fans, and sales. "Well it aint no surprise that the music industry is changing in a big way - and trust me, I know big. When we started Dolly Records we knew we had to be cutting edge as well as put out great music," commented Dolly. "After looking at the choices in digital distribution, INgrooves was the perfect partner for our first release. They had tons of experience and were flexible enough to work with a crazy country girl like me and I know we'll have a ball making waves in the digital world."

INgrooves has had a lot of recent success in the country market with 2007 releases from Tracy Lawrence (No 1 country single with "Find Out Who Your Friends Are") and newcomer Rissi Palmer (Top Ten Country Dance Song - Club Connection).

"All of us at INgrooves are deeply appreciative of the opportunity to work with an iconic, legendary artist like Dolly Parton", commented INgrooves' CEO, Robb McDaniels. "Ms. Parton continues to transcend musical boundaries and delivers a fantastic new album that will increasingly resonate with each track you play."

DOLLY's "Backwoods Barbie World Tour 2008/2009" kicks off February 29 at the Chicago Theatre in Chicago, IL. For the tour DOLLY will perform hits from throughout her storied career - which includes 25 No 1 hits, seven Grammy Awards, 10 Country Music Association Awards, five Academy of Country Music Awards and three American Music Awards-as well as songs from "Backwoods Barbie". She wrote nine of the songs for the album including the current hit single and video "Better Get to Livin'"-and produced the CD with bandleader and guitarist Kent Wells.
