*Kanye West made a surprise appearance at Flavorpill.com's One Step Beyond party in New York Friday night at the American Museum of Natural History, reports the New York Daily news.  The artist backed the set of his protégé, Kid Sister, before taking over the stage to perform "Stronger," "Good Life" and "Can't Tell Me Nothing."

       *Tracy Morgan was spotted acting a fool at The Plumm on West 14th St. in NY last week. According to both the New York Post and Daily News, the "30 Rock" star was at one point shirtless, standing on the bar and searching for a credit card he thought he'd lost. "Tracy came with a group of friends and ordered two bottles of Veuve Clicquot," a witness told Page Six.  "He thought he'd lost his credit card, and staffers were searching for it." Morgan "finally admitted to his waitress that he'd found it in his pocket - right before asking her if he could father her baby." The DUI-prone comic left the venue in a chauffeur-driven car.

       *Apparently, there were reports that Jennifer Lopez had gone into labor to deliver the twins, but a rep for her husband Marc Anthony tells Usmagazine.com that the stories are false. "Everybody figures it is happening around now so they have started throwing out the story hoping they will be right," said the rep.       

       *The Recording Academy has reached an agreement with the striking Writers Guild of America that will allow scribes to work on the Grammy telecast next month. "Having our talented writers on the team further ensures the highest level of creativity and innovation, something our audience has come to expect every year," said Recording Academy President/CEO Neil Portnow. "Music fans worldwide can look forward to an amazing lineup of artists and performances on Feb. 10, making our 50th anniversary show one of the most memorable ever."

       *Tony nominee Elisabeth Withers-Mendes will exit the Broadway company of The Color Purple tomorrow (Jan. 31), but return to her role as Shug Avery for the final two performances of the musical, which is scheduled to conclude its Broadway run Feb. 24. Angela Robinson will assume the role of Shug beginning Feb. 1. On Feb. 24 Withers-Mendes will return for the 2 and 7:30 p.m. final Broadway performances.
