YING YANG TWINS

*Dr. Phil will get a visit form Atlanta rap duo the Ying Yang Twins this month for a show debating the urban fashion trend of sagging pants.

In light of a recent campaign to make the practice illegal, Ying Yang's Kaine and D-Roc were invited on the talk show to discuss the topic alongside Rev. Al Sharpton, Dallas Deputy Pro Tem Mayor Dwaine Caraway and the founders of the Dallas-based Hip-Hop Government organization.

Hip-Hop Government was launched in 2005 by Jay Scroggins, Damon Wofford, and Chris Williams in an attempt to get youth more involved with the political process. In October of 2007, the group launched its “Pull ‘Em Up” campaign against the fashion trend of sagging jeans and exposed boxer shorts. The men believe that the trend is often misinterpreted by people outside of the culture and used to stereotype young people, ultimately hurting their attempts at securing employment.

“We are excited for the opportunity to address issues that concern our culture,” Williams said of the appearance on Dr. Phil, which is scheduled to air Monday (Jan. 28). “Too often, when members of the hip hop community are in the media, it’s for something negative. It feels good to know that we are being invited because we are recognized for our positive contributions to the community.”
