Young Buck

In this week's Pulse Report, the streets are buzzing about Young Buck moving on from 50 Cent, Soulja Boy claiming he's hotter than Kanye and Jay-Z, Ghostface Killah pleading with fans to buy his CD and Uncle Murda taking one to the dome-and living to rap about it.

[Editor's Note: The views of this column do not necessarily reflect those of SOHH.com

1. Friend or Foe? Things have been eerily quiet on the G-Unit front ever since the apparent falling out between Young Buck and 50 Cent. [Read here] Despite continuous denials of any sort of simmer beef, Buck has been noticeably absent from 50's side and from the rap scene in general. Well, Buck's back (sans the braids) and he cleared up the speculation during an exclusive sitdown with SOHH.

"I wouldn't say that the relationship has deteriorated," Buck told SOHH. "At the end of the day, I been over here getting money and establishing me. My relationship with 50, it is what it is. 50's becoming bigger by the day. We don't communicate as much as we used to, but that's cool because I'm not the type of artist that's gonna wait for the CEO to make a move for me. I respect 50 to the utmost. Even though at times to the world it seems like 50 ain't down with me, I still stay loyal to the n*gga because he put me in this position. It's just he's more focused on 50 more than anybody."

Buck also went on to say he wouldn't mind working with G-Unit rival Game.

Hmmm, if it sounds like beef and looks like beef, it's beef. You be the judge.

2. Attempted Murda. Straight from the annals of "WTF," Roc-A-Fella MC Uncle Murda pulled a Steven Seagal by surviving a gun shot wound to the head. The hard to kill rapper was so unfazed by the attempt on his life - which he believes was orchestrated by the police - he checked himself out of the hospital and called into New York radio show The Wendy Williams Experience to boast about his bullet-proof dome piece. Of course SOHH was Johnny on the spot and got Murda to talk exclusively about his death-defying ordeal.

Not only was Murda nonchalant about having a bullet lodged in his head, "the shooter got shoot, but I'm good" he wrote a song about, want to hear it, here it go. [Listen to his exclusive freestyle for SOHH here.]

Wow! Talk about going off the dome. Clearly, what don't kill you will make you a senseless rapper. Let's see how far Murda can milk this situation. You can already see the grandiose dreams of being a celebrated rapper who cheated death floating around his bullet riddled mind.

3. YAHH! YAHH! YAHH! Soulja Boy is demanding his respect from the hip-hop nation-and the folks over at MTV in particular. After setting a record for digital downloads (3 million) and being the undisputed prince of ringtone rap Soulja Boy is confident that the next time the MTV staffers get together to form their "Hottest MC In The Game" list his name should be number #1. Not Kanye West. Not Jay-Z or Lil' Wayne. Soulja Boy should be the #1 rapper on that list. [Watch Here]

"I think if y'all did it right now, yeah, I deserve to be on there, but back there, when y'all did it, I probably didn't have the status that I have right now. I'm Grammy-nominated, if I look at the new list and I compare myself to all 10 of the artists and some don't add up, I'll be like, 'Wow. I should be #1 if it's right now. I'm #1."

I know you find that hilarious, but the funny thing is he might have a point. Seriously. Name 10 MC's hotter than him right now? Key word: "hotter."

Soulja Boy also took the time to respond to the recent attacks Wu-Tang's GZA levied against him in a popular YouTube clip. [Watch Here]

"I wouldn't even rap against the Genius," he said in an interview with Rhapsody. "I'd put up someone who was born in '66 to go against the Genius so it can be a tie. He's got like 50 years on me. I wouldn't even associate with the Genius. [In the video] he was looking like I stole his money or something. He's in Alaska. He's cold. I just heard 50 Cent talking about the Genius saying he had an Impala his age. Well, that's the Genius for you. [Laughs.] He has no choice. He got famous for five little minutes, but he had to sacrifice a relationship with Soulja Boy. Now it's gone. I ain't gonna be like 'F the GZA' 'cause I ain't never met that dude. But he says, 'F Soulja Boy' 'cause he needed a buzz. Now he's back in Alaska."

Wow! Did that young'n just say GZA got famous for five little minutes? Seems like someone needs a history lesson or a good whooping.

4. Crying Out For Love. Speaking of the Wu-Tang, Ghostface is not feeling his fans right now. The Shaolin MC is beginning to question the loyalty of his folk after the sales of his latest effort The Big Doe Rehab, continue to come up short. Ghost made a heartfelt plea to the 100,000 plus fans that downloaded his music on MySpace to go out and buy his CD. [Watch Here.]

"If y'all really rollin' with the kid, snap out that sh*t, man," he said. "This is real talk man. It's comin' from your homey man. Y'all n*ggas gonna make me leave the game based on n*ggas doin' sh*t like that man. I thought y'all loved me, man."

Damn. It's kind of hard to say no to the guy after he's guilted you into buying his album. Go out and cop it for the kid. It's for a good cause; no one wants to see Ghostface retire. Do we?

Meanwhile, Ghost's partner in rhyme Raekwon was recently caught putting his Wallabees in his mouth. During an interview with New York's Daily News Rae went at Jay-Z and Kanye West's credibility in the hood. Suggesting the well-to-do rappers pay a hood tax of some sort.

"A lot of street people don't put stock in them anymore because they aren't doing enough to excite anyone." Raekwon went on to say that the pair had lost touch with their roots and in order to restore their credibility the two superstars should return to the "hood" and donate $100,000. When asked if he would be donating too, he stated that he didn't have the finances to do this.

We all know Rae is a good dude, but that right there deserves an early nomination for the "Shame on N*gga," Pulse Award.

5. Makeovers. Just when we were getting used to calling Puffy, Diddy, and looking at Game's awkward face tattoo, the two hip-hop stars tossed us a change up. Diddy is going for yet another moniker, he'd like to be known as Sean John now.

Meanwhile Game is updating his infamous face tattoo. What was once a butterfly, and then an insignia of his hometown, LA, is now a big beaming red star. [Watch here.]

SMH. Diddy doesn't like himself enough to keep one name and Game doesn't think we truly recognize him as a star so he tats it on his face. And you wonder why folks say rappers are self-absorbed.
