Pink has joined forces with animal rights group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) to try and ban horse-drawn carriages in New York’s Central Park.

The creature-loving pop punk will appear on billboards across the city, urging New Yorkers and tourists to boycott the traditional mode of transport.

She tells the New York Daily News, "Every time I see these horses in New York City, it hurts my heart.

"These horses aren’t taken care of at all - their hooves are made for grass and they’re forced to walk on concrete, and there’s fumes from all the Mercedes (traffic in the city), which the horses suck in all day long."
