JOHNNY CASH

A concert planned to mark the 40th anniversary of late country legend JOHNNY CASH’s landmark performance at California’s Folsom State Prison went ahead in Britain on Sunday (13Jan07).

Plans to stage an official tribute show in the same cafeteria where Cash performed for convicts in 1968 were scrapped last week (07Jan08) after security concerns and filming rights.

Promoter Jonathan Holiff, who claims his father was once Cash’s manager, revealed he was "in tears" when he learned the show would not go on.

But that didn’t stop a British prison tribute - covers band CashBack performed the legend’s Folsom Prison set list to 100 inmates at Highpoint Prison in Suffolk, England.
