*The most famous No. 23 in NBA history is about to unleash the 23rd edition of his Air Jordan sneaker this month in a high-profile roll out that is rumored to be the famous shoe's swan song.
"You'll just have to wait and see," Jordan said coyly in an e-mail to The Associated Press.
The Air Jordan XX3 will be released in three separate phases from January to February, starting with a limited edition to be sent to only 23 retailers for $230 a pop, and concluding with the national launch priced at $185.
There had been discussion at Nike's Beaverton, Ore. Headquarters about retiring the shoe at No. 23, because of his iconic jersey number. But company officials join Jordan in refusing to comment.
Nike did say that the Air Jordan XX3 has gone "green" – meaning it's the first-ever basketball shoe in the Jordan Brand to be made with sustainable materials.
